He had been in a car accident with multiple family members and his wife was on another unit. During the day he received some very bad news about his wife. This nurse was there with him, holding his hand, and crying along with him. When someone called him and he needed to tell them about his wife, he handed his phone to this nurse and asked her to let them know what was happening. Despite everything that was happening with this patient, this nurse stayed strong, kept going, and continued to take excellent care of her other patients, not letting on anything was wrong. My heart went out to the patient and the nurse. She was amazing, his rock.”
