I had the blessing of delivering my son via C/S. Due to his breathing, he was transported to the NICU for care. I am a second-time NICU mom. Upon shift exchange, Emily came in and I explained how important it was for me to see my baby. She acted with not only compassion but with quickness in obtaining me a wheelchair, removing my IV machine, and providing meds so I could travel to the NICU. During the night, I began to cry hearing all the other babies crying in their rooms with mom. At least Emily provided me with love, and encouragement, and was so patient with me. She even helped me hand express throughout the night and took my few drops of colostrum to the NICU. She provided informative care and explained everything to me. Emily made me feel unstoppable at my weakest. I am forever grateful for the experience that Emily provided. My extraordinary night nurse, Emily, deserves this DAISY Award.
