As a Registered Nurse on the neuroscience unit, Caroline Asuah is a lifesaver, however, the story I want to share is not in the context of Carol's role as a neuro nurse. It is the story of how she was a lifesaver as she came upon a critical situation and jumped in to help.

On her way from the employee parking garage to the unit, Carol found an unresponsive person down in the basement. The individual was clearly in distress and unresponsive. Carol recognized the seriousness of the situation and began CPR. Carol was joined by other Inova team members and they collectively resuscitated the individual. The individual was an Inova team member and it is truly remarkable that he survived cardiac arrest through the actions of Caroline Asuah and other team members who stopped and rendered assistance.

Caroline Asuah is an outstanding RN, preceptor, and mentor for others. On the day of the event that I shared with you, Carol was an angel who showed up in the right place at the right time when one of her peers was in the most need. She is an Inova hero.
