I quickly noticed how organized the course was and how knowledgeable and empathetic she was toward all of us.
During my first quarter as an undergrad nursing student, I remember feeling uneasy juggling so many units. However, when I walked into Health Assessment and Basic Nursing Skills (NRS 216) led by Dr. Sabine Dunbar, I quickly noticed how organized the course was and how knowledgeable and empathetic she was toward all of us. She explained thoroughly and seamlessly during theory and used resources appropriately. In the lab, she developed a system to show us how to perform a nursing skill (wound care, foley insertion) and then have us break into smaller groups for practice and check-offs. For the assessment portion, I am beyond thankful for having her teach us and have us demonstrate a full-head-to-toe assessment which ended up being my strongest asset as I started my new job as a bedside RN. Even to this day, I still have the skills check-off list and other notes she provided for us and I'll be using them as a refresher during my MSN-Ed program. Last but not least, she maintained a Christ-like character in and outside of the classroom. She is an exceptional professor and a wonderful colleague.
