My husband has been to most of NYC's major hospitals. During his worst visit to the ER, Nicole was the only person who listened and understood what we were experiencing to help advocate for services. She was the perfect balance of professional and sympathetic. As tired as she must have been, she never took it out on us. She continuously did her due diligence with messaging trails. She updated us on medical records that we asked to be updated continuously by other nurses and did not gossip with others, she just stayed real.
I work in public services as a teacher, and I understand the wear and tear that the need for constant attention and care can have on a person. Nicole kept her head on. I asked if there was anything I could do for her on her behalf like a letter of thank you or positive comments to her supervisor. She said no it is okay, but if we wanted to fill out the survey that will be sent to us later, we could do that. I never do surveys, but I will for her. I have to try something so she can be recognized and know that she is never forgotten.
