Sarah’s kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness towards my mom go above and beyond nursing care. My mom has been a patient of Sarah’s a few times during her cancer diagnosis.  Sarah has been a source of joy to my mom, making her smile, giving her hugs, and just being a shoulder to lean on.  Not only is she a skilled nurse, but her attention to my mom has been extraordinary.  My mom unfortunately had to celebrate her birthday while she was a patient at the hospital. Sarah had a birthday hat, and made a teddy bear out of face cloths with a similar hat that she had made for my mom on the teddy bear.

She went to the cafeteria to get her a cake and had the Nursing staff sing Happy Birthday to my mom.  Sarah takes the time to make sure my mom is clean and comfortable, sits and talks with her and just makes her smile.  I believe Sarah treats my mom the same way she would treat her own mom, and that means a lot when I know my mom is being treated with kindness, compassion, and love.

Sarah is empathetic and is able to bring a smile to my mom’s face during such a difficult time.  When my mom was on another unit after her stroke Sarah came to see my mom just to give her a hug and let her know she is thinking of her and loves her.  Sarah never leaves the room without asking my mom if she needs anything or if the family needs anything or has any questions.  I work at a local hospital and I know this type of nursing is not always the norm, and there are many wonderful nurses here, but Sarah is excellent, and she should be recognized for her top-notch nursing!!!!

She always lightens up the unit.  Patients love her energy and so do the staff.  When anyone needs help, she is right there to offer.  If anyone is having a bad day, she makes them smile.
