This was an extremely stressful time for my wife and myself, especially when we found out the reason for my admission. While everyone we came in contact with upon our arrival was extremely professional and cordial, it was the care and concern that you and every member of your staff afforded us that put me on the road to recovery. The care, concern and consideration that you personally extended to E absolutely reduced her stress tremendously. For that, my heartfelt thank you.
I was truly amazed at the work ethic displayed by you and your staff for 2 reasons. First is the medical issues that the 3rd floor deals with normally and the stress that is placed upon you and your staff to begin with. Combine that with the immeasurable pressure and the hours that you and your staff are working as a result of the Pandemic. Not a single member of your staff ever demonstrated that either of these situations affected their ability and personality. Who would ever imagine that someone could wake you up at 2 am, after first falling asleep 30 minutes prior, to take your temperature and blood pressure actually make you laugh about it, and allow you to forget, for at least a couple of minutes, the reason for you being there! How about my friend, the Phlebotomist, who first thing in the morning shows up to draw blood and has you laughing during the entire process! This was the exact same experience with every nurse and assistant on your staff. I realize that my treatment was a total team effort. As far as I am concerned, this is the best team in the big leagues!
My doctors were also incredible. They made sure that everyone of my issues were addressed, including some of which I didn't even know I had. Members of your staff are sterling examples of your leadership. You provided us with a paper to nominate a nurse for the DAISY Award. That is impossible to do. You have an entire team roster that needs to receive this award, no question about that. I hope the hospital administration is aware of the caliber of the staff that they have at this hospital. I am extremely happy that I will be able to continue my treatment involving staff that I was involved with during my admission. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be involved with NYU Langone.
