Natalie was absolutely amazing today. Being a nurse myself and understanding how hospitals work and orders and consults etc. makes me appreciate when someone goes above and beyond to get a patient’s needs met. To keep it brief, orders were not in, the procedure was not scheduled, and no attending had seen me despite being inpatient for 24 hours. Natalie went out of her way for nearly her entire 12 hours calling, paging, messaging, and literally straightening out many things. She worked tirelessly to make sure I knew what was going on. She rounded every single hour to make sure I was still doing okay. She was so kind and even took me down to Starbucks so I could get coffee. She chatted with me and really made me feel like I was important, and we were going to get these things straightened out. I didn’t feel like just another patient. She made me feel like her only patient and that I mattered even though I was frustrated with the situation.

Her nursing care was amazing when using my Hickman line, I didn’t need to request an alcohol scrub she followed perfect protocol and made me feel safe, and I didn’t need to micromanage my line for fear of sepsis. Overall, Natalie was selfless and truly did make me feel like I was the only one who mattered and worked so tirelessly to make sure not only my medical needs were met but also my emotional needs as anxiety runs high with the unknown. Natalie is fantastic at her job and making patients feel important, cared for, and well-informed. I’m grateful I had the opportunity to be her patient today.
