There is one nurse I believe deserves special recognition for going above and beyond for our patients and that would be Markianne. As stated by one of her recent patients; “I have been to Fairview many times. She is the best RN I have ever had! She thoroughly explained all meds and procedures patiently and answered all questions. I heard her with other patients; she should be teaching others how to properly treat patients. Outstanding!” As her manager, I can speak to the amount of time Marki spends on education. Whether it is with the patients she is caring for or students/newly graduated RNs - she is training. She goes in-depth on the “why” behind her nursing actions. I have learned so much from listening to these conversations. The best part about the way Marki educates is in her approach; she does it in such a way that you do not feel inferior. Additional comments from a patient; “Thank you, thank you, thank you! You listened to me and had compassion for me. You got things done smoothly and quickly. May God continue to guide you in this amazing profession!” Marki's ability to demonstrate values such as compassion, empathy, and integrity, while providing high-quality care is outstanding! She is patient with those she provides care to and those she works with. Marki advocates for everyone on the unit and has been described as a team player which is evidenced by the multiple caregiver celebrations she receives. Coworkers commend her for her willingness to help, her attention to quality, and the support she provides to patients and their families. We appreciate how hard Marki works and want to recognize her amazing ability!
