As a lead nurse, Laura provides extraordinary care to the patients she cares for in and out of the procedure room. One patient in particular was struggling through a procedure and she was right next to him providing comfort and compassion. He joked around about deserving a purple heart because he was a veteran and never earned one. The next day, Laura went home and made a bear with a purple heart medal around his neck. She brought it up to his room and presented him with his purple heart for the bravery he endured throughout the procedure. He was brought to tears and was very grateful for her thoughtful gesture and the time she took to talk to him. Laura truly displayed extraordinary care and brought a glimmer of happiness to this patient's hospital stay.
