Alice was one of the most caring and personable nurses to look after my mom. My mom has metastatic breast cancer and is battling multiple infections that could have cost us her life. We’re used to being in hospitals where we’re used to constantly paging for help because we’re scared to do something on our own and hurt her.

Alice, we felt, truly cared about my mom as a person- not just a name on her board that needed medications. She’d come in and check on her constantly without us paging or asking her to. Even though my mom was surrounded by family, Alice didn’t expect us to handle all the responsibilities on our own. She was gentle with my mom and would calmly explain things to her because she would see how scared and anxious she was. She understood that this was someone’s mother and loved one, and acted as though she had known our family outside of the hospital. She walked us through the appropriate way to treat my mother's wounds so we could do so at home. She continued to remind us that if we needed anything at all she would do her best to help. Alice is an extraordinary example of being an amazing nurse and caregiver.
