I believe that there is no one else who displays the characteristics of a DAISY Nurse more than AJ! He was my senior practicum preceptor for UW BSN, and I am so grateful to have had him as my preceptor! AJ truly cares about each patient he takes care of. He goes above and beyond to ensure that all patient and family needs are met, recognizing that compassion is just as important as medical expertise. Because he has worked on the IMCU for over 7 years, he knows literally everything there is to know about the unit and what to do in any patient emergency. When I first came to the IMCU on my first day, I knew nothing about cardiac/tele and was very overwhelmed. AJ took the time to explain everything to me and gave me the rundown of the unit, to ensure not only the patient's safety, but my safety as a newbie.
