Tracy was a light in the darkness.
My son was medflighted to BCH and ended up in the ICU for 3 weeks as he recovered from a mid gut volvulus. As a previously healthy child, this was a terrifying and surreal experience for our entire family. He went through 5 separate surgeries and was intubated and sedated for the majority of his time there.

Tracy was a light in the darkness. Even though he wasn't awake, she always spoke to him. She explained what she was doing before she did it. She explained to everyone in the room what was happening, and made sure that we understood what she was doing and why. She made sure Child Life was involved when necessary, such as during breathing treatments and when the ostomy bag was first instated. She also made my 4 yo daughter who visited, feel welcome and safe.

As Landon emerged from sedation and suffered from ICU delirium, she always had suggestions to help. She rearranged his room so that he could see the sunlight and was constantly checking on everyone's wellbeing in the room, not just Landon's. She was his champion as well. When we had concerns about rashes or fevers, she made sure the MDs were responsive. She was the first (and 2 weeks later, still the only) person to wash Landon's hair in a shower cap and made us start to feel normal again when he started waking up from sedation. She went above and beyond with her.
