Valerie gave me confidence and calmed me during my frustration.
Many thanks to my nurse Valerie. She is exceptionally good to the patients. I am a 74-year-old patient who had a PD Catheter installed at St. Vincent Hospital. I could not urinate and I was very frustrated. Valerie kept on helping me and calming me down. Convinced me everything is going well. She walked with me in the hallway so that it could wake up my urinary system to urinate. When I still could not urinate, she put a temporary catheter on me to drain the urine so that I felt more comfortable.

I kept on walking but still could not urinate. Finally, she patiently and very gently put a permanent Foley catheter on me so that I could get discharged home. She contacted the catheter surgeon who installed the dialysis catheter on me, and arranged for me to see that surgeon in his clinic to take off the Foley catheter on next Monday morning. After they took off the Foley catheter on Monday morning, I start urinating 2 ½ hours later.

Valerie gave me confidence and calmed me during my frustration. She is like an angel God sent to help me. She has a great heart, kind and helpful to me. Thanks a million again, Valerie. You are one of the best in the nursing profession, very ethical, and patients feel the love from you.
