Julie went way above her duty and was a critical factor in helping manage my husband’s swelling until he was re-evaluated by his surgeon.
Julie took amazing care of my husband who was hospitalized due to a traumatic fall at work. Even though she works very early hours 3am - 3pm she was always smiling, and very positive. Julie was respectful of entering the room and was patient and very quiet while getting vitals and info for the doctor. I never heard her in the room during those early mornings when we were sleeping.
The first night she was with us was the worst night for my husband and his pain level was a 10/10. Julie checked on him frequently and was always checking his pain level and documenting his concerns. She kept reapplying ice packs and repositioning pillows, adding pillows, all to reduce the swelling which was critical to save the tissue in my husband’s foot. Julie went way above her duty and was a critical factor in helping manage my husband’s swelling until he was re-evaluated by his surgeon. Her notes on pain, and swelling g helped me understand the need for an emergency surgery to remove dead tissue and swelling to preserve his foot. Julie was always positive and upbeat and kept me informed of every step of the process.
I almost lost my husband after a 10 1/2 foot free fall from a building but Julie always focused on the positive aspect of my husband’s care, which helped calm me down. The force of the fall was so severe that it broke my husband’s ribs in three parts. She was friendly with family members and friends visiting, and it didn’t feel so formal. Julie promptly sent in a tray request for my husband as after three surgeries and being NPO so many times he has had only a few chances to eat. She asked him what his preferences were and I was not expecting much for him except a sandwich. Julie asked for a regular diet order so something from the kitchen could be sent up. Julie always shared questions with doctors and other nursing staff and always provided explanations on changes.
I have been a patient before as well as our other family members and have never received such great treatment! Julie is an exceptional nurse and we are so glad to have had her as part of the medical team to care for my husband!
