Her compassion, professionalism, and clinical expertise are evident in everything she does, and she is always willing to lend a helping hand to her colleagues.
Tara is the night team lead for MS7 and she always goes above and beyond to support her team, along with all the patients and their families. Tara is kind, caring, and compassionate. She is always there to lend a helping hand, advocate for her staff, and support in any feasible way. Tara goes above and beyond her role and her exceptions to support her staff. There have been numerous times that Tara has come in on her days off to support the floor in days of critical staffing needs. Tara stays past her shift to ensure that the oncoming shift is in a good spot before leaving. Tara supports new staff by providing a warm welcome and making the team transition easier. Tara is always available for her staff, whether it be physically on the floor as resource nurse, doing office hours, or even just a call or text away on her days off. Tara is the perfect example of a team lead, and the MS7 staff is so lucky and grateful to have her.

Tara is our night shift team lead on MS7 and she fits the role so perfectly. Tara is a leader in everything she does. On the nights she is not working, the unit feels incomplete without her there. Her smile and upbeat personality helps each of us through even the hardest of shifts. When she is a resource nurse with a full 3-4 patient assignment, she never fails to drop what she is doing to help one of us in need. Each and every time Tara passes you in the hallway she will ask if we need help, even if she is in the middle of her own task. She is an incredible educator and always takes as much time as it takes to teach any newer nurse. During office hours, Tara’s office feels like a safe place, as you can go in there and ask her any question or talk to her about any current problems. As a nurse herself she is kind, caring, and so companionate to each one of her patients. Each of us staff nurses are so lucky to work under Tara. She truly takes the leadership role to a whole new level.

Tara is nothing but a supportive and caring nurse leader. She always goes out of her way to make sure we are all taken care of, whether that be for work-related situations or in our personal lives as well. She takes the time to educate us on tasks/skills that are new or have changed, as well as letting us get more hands on experience when the situation arises. Despite how chaotic the unit can get, Tara always has a positive attitude and always reminds us of the amazing work we do. We can always count on her to have our backs in tough situations and to support us through our toughest days. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of recognition than Tara- the glue that has held us all together.

I am nominating my colleague, Tara Phillips, for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award in recognition of her outstanding commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients and being an amazing nursing leader. Tara is an exemplary nurse who consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that her patients receive the highest quality care possible. Her compassion, professionalism, and clinical expertise are evident in everything she does, and she is always willing to lend a helping hand to her colleagues. She is an excellent communicator and collaborator, and her positive attitude and dedication to her patients inspire everyone around her. Her ability to work effectively under pressure and handle complex patient situations with grace and skill is a testament to her exceptional nursing abilities. I have no doubt that Tara is a true healer and a true DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
