I’m writing this on behalf of my son and family. Adria was our nurse in the Emergency Room when our son was experiencing a mental health crisis. Adria was calm, compassionate, kind, and therapeutic towards not only our son, but our entire family, who was not well versed in this situation. She sat with our son, engaged with him, and made him feel at ease and more comfortable in an inherently stressful situation. This allowed him to be able to properly express himself. She then sat with our family for nearly an hour, let us talk, and listened patiently while we expressed our feelings throughout this unfamiliar experience. She went above and beyond to make us feel informed about the process, so there were no surprises. She even got our son to crack a smile and laugh and earned his trust and rapport during the darkest time of his mental health evaluation in the hospital. He even told her: humor is his “second language”, which is why he responded so well to her! He genuinely felt supported throughout his stay in the ER. While we hope we never have to come again, we know we will be in the best hands if we do. Thank you for all you do, Adria!
