Nurse Madelyn is the nurse we all pray we encounter when life finds us in a situation that requires a hospital stay. Upon being introduced to her at the start of her shift, I immediately took notice of how she smiled with her eyes. She had a mask on so I couldn't see her mouth, however, I could 100% tell she was greeting me with a smile because I saw it in her eyes. I immediately felt at ease, and she was always there when I needed her and was very attentive. She truly listened to everything I talked about with her, from my pain to my anxiety and even my long-winded stories about my daughter and how I couldn't wait to get home to see my babies. She gave me sound advice and a sense of peace and never failed to show up with anything I needed or asked for, but I'm most thankful for the smile in her eyes that made an unexpectedly prolonged hospital stay feel a little less stressful. Madelyn's kindness, listening ear, and phenomenal bedside manner are things to be recognized, and I hope this is reason to do so today.
