Wednesday "Wendy" Mirbach is a truly outstanding nurse who deserves recognition for her exceptional care and dedication to her patients. She deserves this DAISY Award. Wendy has been with Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital for a total of eight years. She started out as a Staff Nurse in the Cardiac unit in 2011 where she became the Unit Nurse Educator. She left Emory Healthcare in 2015 but was hired in Telemetry in 2020. She also volunteers as a School nurse and is in the process of cross-training in the Clinical Decision Unit. Wendy also recently applied to be a Peer Support Leader (Peer Supporter) for Emory’s Building Resilience and Compassion Enculturation (EmBRACE) Peer Support Program.

Wendy embodies the qualities that make a great nurse: compassion, empathy, and a tireless commitment to her patients. She goes above and beyond to provide the best possible care and support to her patients, their families, and her coworkers. I have had the privilege of working alongside Wendy for a few years, and I have witnessed her remarkable work firsthand. She consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of her patients' and coworkers' needs and concerns, and she works tirelessly to find solutions to their problems.

One of the things that sets Wendy apart is her ability to connect with her patients and peers on a personal level. She takes time to get to know them, to understand their concerns, and to provide emotional support when they need it most. Wendy is also an excellent educator, always taking the time to explain medical procedures and treatments to her patients. She is also the current head of the Education Committee of the Central Monitoring Unit. She explains procedures and nursing concepts to her coworkers in a manner that they can easily understand.

Wendy is an exceptional nurse who embodies the very best of our profession. She is a true asset to our team, and I am honored to work alongside her. I have no doubt that she is more than deserving of this DAISY Award.
