I have watched Erin spend multiple hours advocating for a patient to ensure they had a safe and stress-free knee surgery. This patient required a Lovenox bridge for her to be off warfarin for her upcoming knee surgery. There was some miscommunication between the physicians about necessary steps for bridging her safely on her blood thinner. The patient was told instructions from both offices that did not correlate. I saw Erin challenge the doctors to ensure patient safety. She made sure the doctors were communicating and helped clear up all the questions the patient had. The patient is a Saint Luke's housekeeper and was quite anxious and scared for her upcoming surgery. This fear was only exacerbated by opposing instructions. Thankfully, Erin stepped in gracefully to bring clarity, decrease fear, and make the experience safer for the patient. The patient was overly grateful to Erin as she was there every step of the way, making sure the entire team was on the same page.
