First thing, Alma greeted him with a smile. She was upbeat and reassuring, and immediately put L at ease.
My husband is the patient. He had to have a PICC line procedure and to learn how to administer in home antibiotics daily for 6-8 weeks. He's almost 77 years young with numerous health challenges. He was anxious due to chemo - radiation damaged veins are challenging to draw IVs.

First thing, Alma greeted him with a smile. She was upbeat and reassuring, and immediately put L at ease. The procedure went smoothly (Kaiser only picks the best). By the way, L is almost 21 years cancer-free, partly due to the quality care he received from Kaiser and of course, prayer, God, and lifestyle changes. Alma explained the whole process of daily antibiotics and the PICC line. Her instructions were so good that he was able to do the procedure himself with confidence. Plus, she showed him a website where to purchase a PICC line guard so he could shower and not worry about getting the PICC line dressing wet.

Alma went beyond demonstrating and meeting all the criteria for the DAISY Award. As I've said numerous times - I've commented - medical staff - Kaiser only picks the best. We are so thankful for Kaiser. In fact, from the receptionist who greeted us, to all the patients we saw getting treatments, the whole department was upbeat and kind. It’s very touching to see the patients smile when they are treated with respect and kindness.
