My nurse, Sierra, exemplifies nurse leadership. Sierra supported me when I was diagnosed with cancer. She provided exceptional holistic care and met my mental needs during this sad time. She advocated for me and made sure all my needs were met. She worked tirelessly and diligently to comfort me.

I am a paraplegic, and she was well-educated on my situation. For example, she knows I have trouble regulating my temperature and she made sure I had warm blankets. She would sit next to me when talking to me as she knows paralysis patients do not like people standing over us, so she would sit in a chair to be on my level. She always took the time to explain all test labs, etc. to me as she knew it was an emotional time for me to be diagnosed with cancer.

I am a nurse practitioner, but when I am at the hospital, I am a patient. I love my nurse, Sierra. She is the best blessing. She is a compassionate nurse who delivers excellent care.
