Brenda is an experienced nurse who tends to always go above and beyond in her nursing practice, but this particular incident was extraordinary. She not only performed a very large, lengthy, and extremely complicated wound care dressing on a patient with multiple challenges, but she also demonstrated it for the teaching purposes of several colleagues with less wound care comfort and experience. She was so compassionate, respectful, and kind to the patient, who was in a lot of pain. Beyond just pre-medicating the patient before the procedure, she also played relaxing, ocean waves music, explained the process, and talked her through some deep breathing techniques. She was comforting to the patient and the staff and it was a wonderful thing to be a part of.
