Kaitlyn was the nurse for my mother-in-law in the ER. After many hospital stays, Kaitlyn was the first nurse to treat her just like family. My mother-in-law was unresponsive, but Kaitlyn always told her what she would be doing. This may seem small but she was the only nurse to make sure the blankets were up high enough to keep her warm and not just thrown over her legs or with her arms and shoulders exposed. Kaitlyn was also the only nurse to ask if I was okay or needed anything and if anyone came to speak to us to let us know what was happening. As I said, my family has been through several hospital stays recently with my mother-in-law. She also took my mother-in-law’s glasses off while she was sleeping/unresponsive because she said she doesn’t like to sleep with glasses. She treated her as if she was her family member. This was so much appreciated in this extremely difficult time. We lost my mother-in-law today, but it was comforting to know she had someone comforting her when she first arrived and treating her so well. It was also comforting to arrive at a hospital and see a loved one so ill and being cared for with genuine kindness and compassion.
