When our daughter was born, the nurse, Susan, noticed that she was unusually pale and listless, setting off alarm bells. Susan was experienced and recognized that our daughter was severely anemic, urgently summoning the pediatricians. Susan’s experience, expertise, and quick thinking saved our daughter’s life. She had been hemorrhaging over a day before she was born and no one knew it.

Our daughter was rushed to the NICU and was given blood transfusions. She was treated there for more than a week. The doctors saved her from anemia but noticed other potential health issues that could have been serious and had to be watched. We are grateful to Susan for her life-saving intervention that ensured our daughter returned home safely. She picked up on the warning and got our daughter the care she needed and averted what would have been a terrible tragedy. It was a trying time with great uncertainty, but we were in good, capable hands.
