We brought my mother to the McHenry ER on Thursday night due to numbness and weakness on her left side. After several tests in the ER with no definitive results she was admitted to the hospital to the MSO unit.

Amber was assigned to my mother’s care and consistently went above and beyond the entire time we were there. She kept us informed of every detail and communicated with us non-stop. The biggest difference she made was doing a preliminary review of MRI test results and recognizing that additional testing was likely needed. She got the necessary doctors and specialists in a group chat (it was after hours on a Friday) and had them review the results. The Doctor team ordered a CT w/contrast. Doing this finally led to the diagnosis of 2 strokes. Amber did this to make sure my mother was diagnosed within the timeframe necessary to be admitted to the stroke unit. She was unbelievably helpful, kind, compassionate, and lighthearted. She should be celebrated and encouraged to continue making these connections and differences with patients.
