Susan treats every patient as if they were her family, and she would never want to turn one away if she could help it because they need her.
Susan has a calming presence. I will be overwhelmed and stressed out, and all it takes is Susan's presence to feel instantly at peace. She is always willing to help with whatever I need. She encourages both me and the staff to be the best that we can be. Encourages us to get certified, go to conferences, and do anything to help us grow as a nurse. She thinks of others first.
Susan treats every patient as if they were her family, and she would never want to turn one away if she could help it because they need her. She would gladly come to take patients on the floor in order to make sure no patient goes without care.
South 7 was one of the units that changed to COVID during the 2020 pandemic, yet Susan never complained. She did what needed to be done and did it with a smile on her face, which was so encouraging to the staff. She has worked shifts on South 6, South 7, South 8, South 9, and HC6 in order to help the staff during this pandemic. She doesn't just go and sit in the seat, though, she works hard to help the nurses, aides, and patients. She doesn't complain, she just smiles and works as if working for the Lord. We couldn't ask for anything better in a leader.
Nursing leadership definitely agrees with the sentiments expressed by her staff on South 7. As a servant leader, it is evident Susan believes strongly in the mission and vision of our ministry. Caregiver engagement, patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes are priorities in everything she does. Covenant is blessed to have her leadership, especially during these challenging times, and we are exceptionally proud to recognize her as a DAISY Nurse Leader.
