She listened to my concerns and issues and reassured me that my voice mattered.
I was only 38 weeks when I had an ultrasound with unexpected findings, and it prompted my doctor to induce me the following night. It felt surreal, and I was really anxious for my unborn child's health and for my delivery. I had a traumatic delivery 12 years ago, so it made me feel very vulnerable, but because of my nightshift nurse, Jessica, I felt the comfort and genuine care that I needed that time. She not only went above and beyond explaining things, but she advocated for me and for my rights as a patient. Also reminded me of what I am feeling and going through. She listened to my concerns and issues and reassured me that my voice mattered.
Every time she explained a procedure or things she needed to get done, she would look at my eyes, making sure that I understood things and that I'd have permission with every single thing they did, which was very important for a vulnerable patient.
I am very blessed that I had her as my nurse. She is very genuine, sincere, thorough, and a true reflection of what really a nurse should be.
