I would like to nominate an exceptional nurse who cared for my son while he was in the PICU, Danielle Mackey. When I arrived at the PICU with my son, who had just suffered a cardiac arrest. Within hours of being admitted, he was intubated and undergoing testing. I was experiencing a feeling of trauma that I never knew existed. Danielle never took her eyes off of my son. The patient care we received was exceptional. She was out of her seat and in our room so quickly not only when my son needed her, but when I needed her too. Her agility with my son and her compassion towards my family was the first sense of comfort I had since this all started. The only reason I was able to get any sleep that night was because I knew my son was under the care of Danielle. Danielle went above and beyond to meet our family's needs. She is a remarkable nurse, and I will forever be grateful for the comfort she provided us during the hardest days of our lives. I know she will go on to leave the very same imprint on the lives of so many others. Thank you for this opportunity to nominate Danielle.
