This honoree deserves the DAISY award for going above and beyond to care for each patient on Unit K. Not only is she compassionate when a patient is ill or in pain, but she also cares about their personal and mental needs. She will help find movies and TV shows relative to the patient's requests. She provided coloring sheets with each patient's name, then would designate time to color with the patients while listening to country music and called it “Color Me Country.” She remembers small details about her patients, family visits, making sure each patient gets a birthday card, and researching items they want to order. Not every patient will call back after their discharge, but if they do, they make sure to tell her hi and thank her for all she did for them. Her compassion for our patients goes far beyond being a nurse.
