My brother, S, was a patient in ICU with a brain injury. S attempted to take his own life which ultimately ended as an anoxic brain injury. Our entire world shattered, and we were helpless as we watched S day after day not make the progress we hoped for. In this time, Dolores took such compassionate and professional care of S. It was evident that her heart is in nursing and she cared about her patient. She treated everyone with respect and showed so much grace to all. We felt protected by the ICU and, most specifically, Dolores. S passed away from anoxic brain injury and Dolores stayed with him and played his favorite music the day before and the day of his death. Dolores made sure she was at the hospital to be by our side, and most importantly by S’s side as he made his honor walk to save lives. We cannot thank Dolores enough for the incredible care, patience, and compassion she provided. The loss of S is an immense grief but the days to his passing were softened by Dolores Mitchell.
