Ginny has gone above and beyond for her staff. She implemented the save couplet-to-nurse ratio, she also started the nurse/patient ratio for magnesium sulfate patients. She is a big advocate for the new grads and has them check in with her. She checks the staffing to make sure they have a support person to reach out to. Ginny tries to get all staff involved in something on the unit. She always makes sure you can reach her day and night that she is only a phone call away. Ginny keeps us up on the newest articles for mother-baby safety. She will tell what is coming down the pike and new evidence-based practice and AWOHN standards. She tries to listen to all complaints and concerns the staff may have. She really encourages us to advance our practice in many ways, going to classes offered in work-related education or continuing to advance our practice. I know in the 40-plus years I've been here, Ginny has taught me more and has advocated for the best patient-nurse care ratio. Whenever there is a patient with health concerns, Ginny makes sure we huddle; she speaks to the patient if needed, and she speaks to providers if she feels the need to or to show we are concerned about a patient. She has a great heart, and it's been a pleasure to work with Ginny. Last thing, Ginny's famous words, "You don't have to be great at everything pick one thing and be great at that."
