I am a registered nurse who is new to Boston Medical Center. I have been here since June, and everyone I have come in contact with has been extremely nice and helpful. There is one nurse in particular who I would like to recognize; her name is Laura. Laura is not only an amazing nurse, but she is an amazing person. She can stay calm in the most hectic situations, and her calmness radiates to other nurses on the floor and patients' families. Laura is the actual definition of a team player, constantly asking her coworkers if they need help or if they need to take a lunch break. I am a new ICU nurse, and Laura has made a significant impact on my orientation; she has shown me how to stay cool, calm, and collected when needed. Nursing is hard, especially in critical care, when dealing with some of the sickest patients. Laura will constantly advocate for her patients, so I am going to advocate for her. I believe that she deserves a DAISY Award for her hard work and dedication not only to her patients and patients' families but also to her coworkers at Boston Medical Center.
