He endured many difficult days, and Vanessa soothed his medical and mental battles each time she tended to him.
While Vanessa’s clinical experience was always evident during the times she was my husband E’s nurse during his 25 days in Miriam Hospital, it was the compassion and gentle demeanor she offered throughout his difficult hospitalization that made a huge difference in his care, both for the patient and his wife, B.

E was terminally ill, but still in the fight for life. He endured many difficult days, and Vanessa soothed his medical and mental battles each time she tended to him. She provided me with a bed during E’s last few nights; this afforded both of us comfort, simply being together. Two days prior to his discharge to Home Hospice Vanessa made a pre-birthday party for E, a whiteboard message, balloons, decorations, and cake on his lunch tray. Smiles of happiness ensued.

My husband did return home for four days and he celebrated his 89th birthday at home with family and friends. It was a beautiful, heartwarming day for E and his family. He passed away in his sleep. Vanessa made a difficult time easier, for both E and myself. I will never forget this special nurse. B, E’s loving wife of 64 years.
