I am delighted to nominate Theresa Garcia for the Daisy Award. I underwent a Mohs surgery on my face, which unexpectedly became a complex, six-hour procedure due to the depth and size of the Basil Cell. Throughout this challenging experience, both Dr. M and Nurse Theresa Garcia provided exceptional care. Theresa’s remarkable bedside manner and genuine conversations helped ease my anxiety during the procedure. She even shared her passion for patient care and her homemade macaroon cookies, which she sells at the local farmers market. Theresa’s attention to detail and ability to stop bleeding during the incision added to my confidence in the surgical team. Her joyful announcement of clean margins’ after the third cutting brought immense relief. Additionally, she offered valuable advice during my recovery when I called the Clinic. Theresa embodies the kindness and compassion one hopes for in a nurse. I am profoundly grateful for the outstanding care I received from the UNMH Dermatology, Mohs’ team, especially from Ms. Garcia and Dr. M.
