I am thrilled to nominate Kaeleigh for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication and compassion as a nurse. I participated in a nurse intern program at SSH over the summer where I met Kaeleigh. The Nurse Intern program pairs nursing students with a nurse, and they have time to learn and improve hands-on skills, work one-on-one with a nurse, have more experience treating patients, and work in a specialty of their choice. I was not specifically paired with Kaeleigh, but she went out of her way to ensure I would get the most out of this program and always went out of her way to make me feel welcomed and included. Kaeleigh went above and beyond to ensure I, as a nursing student, had a good experience this summer. Kaeleigh gave me every hands-on opportunity she could find. She took extra time to explain and educate me on things I was unsure of or unaware of. Kaeleigh was so kind to all of her patients. A specific instance that sticks out is one-day Kaeleigh had a patient with dementia who was pending admission to a facility. Kaeleigh went out of her way to help him shower. She shaved him, cleaned his hair, fed him, talked with him, and comforted his wife when she was overwhelmed with emotions. Kaeleigh was more concerned with patients’ hygiene and comfort than any nurse I have ever met. She fiercely advocated for him and all of her patients. Kaeleigh’s care provided to the patient with dementia is just one instance that showcases her extraordinary qualities as a nurse. Her mentorship and support have inspired me to aspire to the same level of excellence in my future nursing career. She was wise beyond her year and one of the most outgoing and helpful people I have met since starting nursing school.  After completing my Nurse Intern II program, I feel much more competent in the hands-on skills I have had the opportunity to perform and feel ready to work as a nurse, much of that thanks goes to Kaeleigh and the rest of the SSH nursing staff. Her exceptional dedication and compassion during my Nurse Intern program left an indelible mark on my journey as a nursing student. Her unwavering commitment to patient care, her advocacy for their well-being, and her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure their comfort and dignity are unmatched. Kaeleigh and the rest of the SSH ED staff's collective dedication to nurturing and guiding aspiring nurses like me is truly commendable. I truly believe Kaeleigh embodies what it means to earn a DAISY Award. I am deeply grateful for the impact she has had on my growth as a nursing student and for the lasting impression she has left on me. Your consideration of Kaeleigh for this prestigious award would not only honor her but will also inspire other nurses to follow in her compassionate footsteps.
