Holly was a nursing angel on Earth! It felt like Holly truly was called to be a nurse and to care for her patients. She was so kind, sweet, caring, and had the most calming presence. Her care made such a difference in my recovery and confidence to breastfeed my baby. Holly answered all of my questions and spent over 45 minutes helping me with breastfeeding including using the breast pump for the first time! I was so nervous, but Holly helped calm my nerves and encouraged me to keep trying, explained why it was important, and helped me overcome my fears. I am so grateful to Holly because she helped make breastfeeding successful for me. I am still exclusively breastfeeding and my baby has gained 2 lbs of weight during her first month. I attribute much of the breastfeeding success to Holly’s patience and willingness to help me set the groundwork to make it a positive experience for me and my baby. In addition, Holly helped clearly explain what certain meds were for (and why I needed them) and helped me to feel comfortable in situations at the hospital, including going to the bathroom (my first poop post-surgery), spending more time walking, encouraging my recovery (and being understanding about my declining opioids for pain management) and gaining confidence in my parenting skills. Holly was one of the best nurses that I received care from during my hospitalization. When I saw the sign for this award in the elevator, I knew I had to nominate Holly because she made such a difference in my c-section recovery and first week as a parent! Thank you, Holly, for being you and for making a difference! Your patients are lucky to have you as a nurse!
