I explained through tears that I was worried and scared. MarCee put her hand on my shoulder and took her time to explain to me what was going on and why I might feel like I did.
I was admitted to ICU for a perforated bowel. MarCee was my nurse for 3 of the 4 days. So many different doctors came in 1 to 2 times a day. None of them said the same thing about my treatments. I was so confused after 2 days of this that I was brought to tears with worry. These doctors are not on the same page, and I was so frustrated that they didn't really care. In comes an angel, MarCee, she sees me crying and asks me what's wrong. I explained through tears that I was worried and scared. MarCee put her hand on my shoulder and took her time to explain to me what was going on and why I might feel like I did. She said everything in her opinion over 30 years (and made that clear). She explained what was wrong with me clearly and completely and what might happen if we didn't do anything to fix it. She was in with me for a good 20 minutes just talking. She helped me so much. MarCee was always happy, positive, and personal. She had to get me ready for an MRI. The radiology department told her to have me over there within 18 minutes, and then they could get me in. In comes MarCee. She tells me what's going on and starts getting me ready very quickly. Off goes the gown. She got another gown on me, pulled out the hair tie in my hair, pulled rings off, and unhooked the IV. I felt like Cinderella was being changed by the mice. They raced me over to radiology within 7 minutes. MarCee made it fun like a challenge between radiology and ICU and I was included in the "game". She'd check on me just to talk about our lives, too. It really felt like my own mother was taking care of me. I was sad to say goodbye to her. She gives the warmest hugs. MarCee is definitely doing the career she was made for. She truly deserves this award!
