I recently underwent surgery in May and was sent to the CVICU. Abdi was my nurse on the second day of my hospitalization. I cannot speak enough as to how much I appreciate all he did for me. I was in severe pain from the first night into the second day (later to find out it was due to a pneumothorax, as well as a pleural effusion). He listened to my complaints and immediately picked up on my decreased breath sounds on the right. I feel that he truly advocated for me and was practically responsible for getting me into interventional radiology and allowing me to receive my thoracotomy where I had 1 liter of blood drained! He also went above and beyond for me when I knocked over a brand-new coffee my family brought in for me all over the floor. He surprised me shortly after by going to the cafeteria and buying me a coffee with his own money and refusing to let us pay him back. As a fellow nurse, I am truly pleased and shocked by the care and kindness I received from my nurses. At times when you know what you need but are in too much pain to advocate for yourself, God sends you an angel disguised in blue scrubs!! Thank you so much for dealing with my very protective mother in the kindest way as well. I know family can sometimes be the hardest part of this job!!!
