I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis about 16 years ago after having complications following my gallbladder removal. I have been in and out of the hospital over the years. It never gets easier. This week Mykka was my nurse when my husband was in a minor motorcycle accident on his way to visit me. When he arrived, Mykka could see that his hands were burnt seriously. Mykka went and got a burn package and began to clean his hands and treat the burns. It was already past shift change and had been a very long day. Mykka could have easily just given us instructions on caring for the open wounds (which would have been very kind as well). However, Mykka stayed and treated his hands, spending her own free time to help. It wasn't just this one moment. Over the two days, she talked to me in depth about my treatment and what to expect. Not once did I feel rushed or like we were bothering her. Mykka truly loves her job, and it shows. Mykka is a gem. Thank you, Mykka!
