My husband of 31 years has visited hospitals over 40 some odd times for surgeries. He is a joker and lively man who never lets his medical conditions get the best of him. He puts his best foot forward, smiles, and goes with the flow. Thessa was the perfect nurse for him. She intuitively caught on to his free spirit personality and made him feel right at home – in a surgical room, no less during preparations. Thessa’s love for patients was immediately felt. Her attention to detail when questioning him was distinct when she asked detailed questions that were highly important but not shared by my husband because, for him, this hospital visit was “just another ride.” What was extraordinarily special was Thessa’s ability to laugh and joke alongside my husband. She shared stories as she worked, and while she was requested by other nurses and patients, she never rushed, making my husband feel like a king. Only I know the emotional distress & anxiety my husband feels each time he goes under the knife. But Thessa read him like a book, in my experience of being a professional caretaker and hospital visitor. The time taken to address my husband’s emotional health is more important than anything because he never complains or shares what he feels. Thessa is a human angel with a gift she freely shares.
