She told me that death is a part of life, and it doesn't always make sense, but I have to trust that God has a plan for everyone, and his plan for me at that moment was to give that patient dignity in death.
Bonnie was so caring and professional when I came down with GBS in August 2005. Through Hurricane Katrina and Rita, she gave remarkable care. I can't think of a more deserving person and friend that just so happens to be one great nurse, and I love her dearly.

Bonnie embodies exactly what a DAISY Nurse is. She goes above and beyond daily for patients, staff, and EJ. As a new ICU nurse, I lost my first patient. Bonnie was at the bedside when it happened. This was not an expected death, and there was not a dry eye on the unit. I wanted to quit nursing at that moment. I wanted to walk out of the hospital and never go back. Bonnie walked up to me and gave me a hug. She told me that death is a part of life, and it doesn't always make sense, but I have to trust that God has a plan for everyone, and his plan for me at that moment was to give that patient dignity in death. I honestly don't think Bonnie even remembers that interaction, and I am positive she has had similar interactions with other team members since. That is just who she is. She truly cares about everyone. She is an Extraordinary Nurse and human being, and I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for her.
