Our loved one, P, was at the hospital in El Dorado. They felt as though he needed to transfer to a hospital to access a heart and lung specialist. They spent a whole day calling different hospitals around the state and even tried Kansas City and Denver, but none of them had an open bed. The Hutchinson Regional Medical Center didn't have any beds at the time but thought they would have an open bed later in the day, and we were encouraged to check back later.

Fortunately, they did so P was transferred to Hutch. The doctors assessed him and felt like all care options were exhausted and recommended hospice. The next morning, P decided that he wanted comfort care. The family gathered to spend these last precious moments with him, and he passed away early that evening. In those hours we spent at the hospital, his nurse, Ashley provided excellent, supportive, and compassionate care. She treated not only P with the utmost dignity but also our entire family. She explained everything, answered our questions, and "worked around" us for hours. She was kind, respectful, and gracious with everyone with whom she interacted. It was clearly evident that she naturally embraces your ICARE values. Her care comforted not only P, but also our entire family, and we are sincerely grateful.
