After pleading the case and laying out the benefits versus the risk to 3 different levels of administration it was decided that the visitation with father and son would be supported by our Promise, Vision, and Mission Statement.
It is not every day that you get to witness one person exhibiting a passion for a cause, but recently, I witnessed a Team of passionate caregivers striving to do the right thing. Since Covid, many processes have remained unchanged or have failed to revert to the pre-covid standard. We have a patient who has a terminal diagnosis and was informed that he may or may not survive a surgery that would help his pain, but that would not change the prognosis. We were struggling to get this young man’s 2-year-old son up to see him. It wasn’t because of logistics but because of current policies in place with visitation restrictions. Emma had confided in another caregiver that she felt that the father-son interaction would likely help the outcome as it would lift the patient’s spirits and give him a reason to keep fighting. A process was followed to reach out to the administration here at Specialty. After pleading the case and laying out the benefits versus the risk to 3 different levels of administration it was decided that the visitation with father and son would be supported by our Promise, Vision, and Mission Statement. I’m so thankful to work in a place where the term Leadership is not identified by titles but by actions. Blessings to all of those involved.
