I could see my mom become more relaxed as Sophie helped her feel more comfortable mentally and physically.
My mom is 75 and has almost never been in the hospital. She has a hard time asking for or accepting help. She had a sudden incident recently where her leg suddenly gave out, and she was in severe 9/10 pain. Against everything she wanted, she admitted she needed me to take her to the ER. Sophie was her nurse. She was so calm and validating of my mom's experience of feeling embarrassed and reassured her that it was okay to ask for help. I could see my mom become more relaxed as Sophie helped her feel more comfortable mentally and physically.
The ER was so busy the hallway was full of beds, and the waiting room was full, yet she still took the time to make my mom feel heard, respected, safe, and comfortable. I appreciate her so much, and I am sure her other emergency room patients do too.
