Shannon Giesen is an outstanding candidate for the DAISY Award for her extraordinary service and empathy. She showed her devotion, kindness, and expertise when she offered to come into work on her day off to support a mental health patient who was facing many challenges with medication compliance and daily activities. Shannon had built a strong and trusting relationship with the patient in just a few hours the day before and was able to leverage that trust to help the patient take her medications and undergo the required lab tests. She also collaborated with the patient to develop a comprehensive and realistic daily plan that would help the patient achieve her goals and also facilitate the work of the staff in the days/weeks to come.

Shannon has an amazing ability to relate with patients and gain their confidence. She is able to listen to their needs, empathize with their feelings, and motivate them to improve their well-being.
