Teresa then followed up with me to check in on the associate and see if there was anything else she could do to help (while Teresa was at home herself with COVID)!
Recently, an NRMC Associate was diagnosed with meningitis and was sent to a different hospital for diagnosis and treatment. After treatment, it was determined that she needed 2 weeks of IV antibiotics. The case managers at the hospital she was at told her that her only options for IV antibiotics daily would require her to drive to Alexandria or Shreveport daily, please keep in mind she is a mother of two young children.
I called Teresa to ask her advice on what an option for her IV treatment might be locally. Teresa immediately let me know that the information the associate had been given was incorrect. Teresa gave me the cell phone numbers and names of the managers of two different at-home IV antibiotic treatment options that were covered by NRMC insurance. She then offered that if the associate continued to have these issues, to call her back and Teresa would get the appropriate paper signed to become the associate's case manager from Natchitoches.
The associate was able to be discharged that day (which had been questioned until she had discharge plans) and continued with at-home treatment. Teresa then followed up with me to check in on the associate and see if there was anything else she could do to help (while Teresa was at home herself with COVID)! Teresa is always willing to help, selfless, and puts others before herself 100% of the time. She is such an asset to NRMC and our patients are lucky to have her.
