Sargon took this comment to heart, and he went into action. He collaborated with the patient’s family and the charge nurse to have the baptism happen in the patient’s room so the patient would not miss it.
Sargon had taken care of this particular patient for multiple days. He had formed a great relationship with the patient, and his family members. The patient’s health was slowly declining, and he was given a poor prognosis. Palliative Care was consulted, and the patient was appropriate for hospice. This was devastating to the patient, and he expressed this to Sargon. The patient was most likely never going to make it home again. The patient mentioned to Sargon that his only dying wish was to see his granddaughter baptized, and he was nearly devastated, knowing that wouldn’t happen with his prognosis. Sargon took this comment to heart, and he went into action. He collaborated with the patient’s family and the charge nurse to have the baptism happen in the patient’s room so the patient would not miss it. The date was scheduled, and the patient was moved into a private room the night before. The patient was very surprised to see his family and the priest walk in the next morning, with the little granddaughter in her cute little dress. The patient and family members were so thankful that this last wish was able to come true. Sargon is a very caring nurse and went out of his way for this patient. There is no doubt in my mind that Sargon would do this for any of his patients! This nurse deserves this reward because he goes above and beyond every day.
