Jan was contacted to arrange an "Honors Walk" for a dying patient and his family in the ICU. From the moment Jan was asked to do this, she jumped into action. She was asked by the family to videotape the event because initially, the family was not going to be present. She spoke with multiple departments to make this happen. When everything was organized and the time was set to happen at 1am, she didn't hesitate to volunteer to come in to make this wish come true for the family. She even made sure all departments on duty overnight could participate in this honor walk to the OR for procurement. Jan worked with nursing and the nursing supervisor to coordinate this. She arrived early, took pictures, and videoed the event. She worked with the ICU staff so that the Honors Walk could start in the ICU. After the event, she coordinated with corporate compliance to find a way to get the video and photos to the family. She even hand-delivered a flash drive to the patient's sister at her home so that she would have the video and photos for her brother's services. She went the extra mile for this family in honoring their loved one and, in turn, also honored the hospital with her professionalism, kindness, and compassion for our community.
