Lisa creates an environment where we are a team, and we really care about each other. It starts with her.
Lisa Burek epitomizes a caring, motivational nursing leader. Her staff consistently shows 100% participation and engagement on My Voice, Culture of Safety, and their monthly unit-based team-building activities due to Lisa’s modeling of an engaged leader. She cares, so they care. Lisa also led her nurses through career ladder changes that were disappointing for the fact that her staff were not included in them. However, Lisa has worked over the past year to help her nurses advance on the current career ladder and keep them very engaged while doing so.
I received the following message from one of her GI Techs: “I’m writing to let you know how much I appreciate Lisa and how good she is at what she does. She is the type of boss who believes nothing is beneath her; even as a boss, she operates as our equal. She does whatever is needed of her. There is nothing that she won’t help with. She will jump into any role that our department has: tech, nurse, and secretary. As a matter of fact, there are so many more not listed. She does it all. I for one really appreciate her, and I’m glad to work under her leadership. She shows respect to others and really listens to the needs of her staff. I’m writing because I don’t know what is available out there, but I believe she deserves some type of award to be bestowed to her. Something that praises and rewards the amazing work that she has done and continues to do here as a boss.”
I have also received the following message from the Procedure Center’s unit secretary: “I just wanted to send a shout-out about Lisa and her leadership. She is always going above and beyond for us in the Procedure Center. She is always so flexible with our schedules, really taking into account what else is going on in our lives. She will adjust her time to help us out. She also helps out as needed within the rooms, at the desk, or just to be a support when we are spread thin. I have never been so excited to actually wake up and come to work in the mornings. Lisa creates an environment where we are a team, and we really care about each other. It starts with her. I just wanted her to be recognized for keeping such a positive work environment.”
Note: This is Lisa's 2nd DAISY Award!
